Despite previous rejections, Manchester United did not back down and are nearing an agreement with Sporting Lisbon for Viktor Gyokeres.

A late transfer window bombshell has emerged, with a dramatic twist, as Manchester United have reportedly made a last-minute offer to Sporting Lisbon regarding Viktor Gyokeres, slightly exceeding Arsenal's bid of between €70 and €80 million.

Capitalising on the apparent breakdown in negotiations between Sporting and Arsenal, the Red Devils have swooped in with their own offer for Viktor Gyokeres and are reportedly close to an agreement with the Portuguese giants, according to major Portuguese media outlets.

According to Abola, the offer presented to Sporting, managed by Ruben Amorim, is slightly higher than Arsenal's, sitting between €70 and €80 million.

Viktor Gyokeres' desire is well-known, as he has previously indicated that his desire is to play for Arsenal, compete for the Premier League title, and play in the Champions League.

However, a return to Sporting under Ruben Amorim, who previously coached Viktor Gyokeres to a Portuguese league title, now appears a likely scenario.

Viktor Gyokeres Deal With Arsenal at Crossroads

Viktor Gyokeres' deal with Arsenal is in serious jeopardy as Sporting remain firm on their €80 million valuation. For their part, Arsenal has shown no signs of budging from their position in six days, and the possibility of them ever meeting Sporting's asking price is diminishing.

The risk of the deal collapsing is high, and even the player's family reportedly understands that a move to London is increasingly unlikely.

Further reports suggest that the deal between Sporting and Manchester United is nearly finalised. However, with no European competition next season, Manchester United have seen three offers for Viktor Gyokeres turned down, and a fourth is also expected to fall short.

Manchester United have already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves and are closing in on Bryan Mbeumo after Brentford accepted a third offer this week.

Strengthening the forward line remains a key priority, although the club has faced setbacks. Liam Delap chose Chelsea over United, while Hugo Ekitike also declined a move.
