Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola declares their intent to win the treble following the victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup final.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has lifted the lid on treble talks as promised following their victory over Manchester United.

The Cityzens were on course for a treble since beating Arsenal to the Premier League, but the Man City boss refused to talk about it until winning the FA Cup.

They are not champions of the cup, beating the Red Devils 2-1 in the final, picking up their second title on the road to a possible three.

What Guardiola said

The Spaniard coached his team to a victory over their crosstown rivals thanks to a Gundogan brace, an opener, and a winner after Bruno Fernandes equalised.

After the victory, Guardiola said he can now talk about the treble, suggesting it is their goal, but acknowledging the inter-sized hurdle in front of them.

"We can now talk about the Treble. Of course we still have to win the Champions League. We performed so well for our city and our fans," he said, per the BBC.

"Tomorrow and the next day they can have off. We've then got three or four sessions to train for Inter Milan. We'll travel on Thursday morning after training.

Meanwhile, Manchester United stand-in captain Bruno Fernandes was dejected by the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City, but he believes they have made an important step in their climb back to the top.
