Ghana MP scores an apology goal for Maguire with the Manchester United defender responding to it.

Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire has responded to a heartfelt apology from a Ghanaian Member of Parliament Isaac Adongo that was issued during a recent parliamentary session.

The apology comes nearly 11 months after Adongo had drawn an unfavorable comparison between Maguire and Ghana's Vice-President, Mahamudu Bawumia, citing their alleged poor performances.

The England defender took to social media to welcome the apology from the MP and appeared to invite him to Old Trafford.

"MP Issac Adongo apology accepted . See you at Old Trafford soon," wrote Maguire on his X (formerly Twitter).

Adongo's earlier criticism had sparked controversy, but this unexpected apology signals a change of heart as he acknowledged Maguire's transformation as a footballer.

During a heated budget debate in Ghana's parliament on Wednesday Adongo publicly expressed his remorse.

"Mr Speaker, I now apologize to Harry Maguire. Today, Harry Maguire has turned the corner and he is a transformational footballer," he said.

The MP's about-face was remarkable, given his previous scathing remarks that had likened Maguire's own-goal woes to the economic struggles faced by Vice-President Bawumia.

In his apology, Adongo continued to criticize Bawumia's performance, highlighting concerns about the country's growing debt and economic performance issues.

"[Harry Maguire] is now a key player for Manchester, but as for our Maguire [Mr. Bawumia], he is now roaming at the IMF with a cup in hand," he quipped.

In contrast, on the Kenyan front, there has been no indication of an apology from Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa for his jests about Harry Maguire.

During a radio show on Spice FM in October, Barasa made headlines when he compared Cleophas Malala, the acting United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary-General, to Maguire in terms of political inefficiency.

"I can equate him with this Manchester United player who was once the leading scorer, but for scoring own goals. I don't think there's much difference between Cleophas Malala and Maguire," he remarked.

Harry Maguire, a former Leicester City defender known for his prowess on the football pitch, has indeed faced a challenging phase at his current club, Manchester United.

The England central defender has had his share of ups and downs, including moments of brilliance and occasional lapses in form.

While Maguire's on-field performances have been scrutinized by fans and pundits alike, his resilience and commitment to improvement have been evident.
