The former official feels it is time for the Northern Irish tactician to terminate his contract.

Former Gor Mahia treasurer Sally Bolo has explained why she thinks Johnathan McKinstry should leave his post as the club's head coach.

McKinstry has come under renewed pressure following a 3-2 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz at Kasarani on Wednesday. Had Gor Mahia won and Tusker dropped points against Posta Rangers, K’Ogalo would have emerged as this season’s champions.

However, they ended up losing the match despite taking the lead twice after scoring through Patrick Kaddu and Austin Odhiambo.

Homeboyz – under former K’Ogalo assistant coach Patrick Odhiambo – mounted a comeback and sealed victory through goals scored by Ambrose Sifuna, Kevin Amwayi, and Hillary Otieno, who scored in stoppage time to stun the heavyweights.

"If I were the head coach of Gor Mahia, I would request a mutual agreement to terminate the contract at the end of the season and thank management, players, and fans for giving me the opportunity to lead the club regardless of the outcome of Sunday's final match," Bolo tweeted after the midweek clash.

The Gor Mahia loss and the 1-1 draw by Tusker at Ruaraka mean the title race will be sealed on the final day. However, K’Ogalo have a slight advantage as they are at the top with a point more, and their superior goal difference sets them apart from Tusker.

Gor Mahia will play Nairobi City Stars, while Tusker – the reigning league champions – will face the already-relegated Vihiga Bullets.

The matches will not only determine the winner of the title, but the league champions will also secure a CAF Champions League ticket for the 2023/24 season.
