Milton Kidiga, Vihiga Bullets' head coach, reacts following the 5-2 loss to Nairobi City Stars

The coach, who took over from George Owoko in February, insists that his players were not able to implement his instructions to be resolute defensively, making them concede three quick goals within the opening 25 minutes.

“ I am disappointed with my players,” he said, “these are the kind of teams we need to beat if we are to stand a chance of avoiding relegation,” he added.

“My team did not play with the strategy we worked on in training. We wanted to be cautious and avoid conceding in the first half so that we would go all guns blazing against Stars in the second half.

“We trained here this week after losing to KCB and we wanted not to lose against them Stars. It is not good at all.”

Kidiga further explained the reasons as to why he was forced into making early substitutions.

“ We came here to play compact but we quickly conceded. I needed to make more positive changes because at 3-0 down, we had nothing to lose and it worked”

The tactician has challenged the side to pull their socks up if they are to stand a chance of surviving relegation.

“ I have tried motivating them as much as I can. They also need to raise their standards themselves and show initiative.

They made very silly mistakes! The first three goals were avoidable and from those elementary mistakes!”
