Kenya Police vs Gor Mahia: Preview, Team News, Time and Where to Watch ‘Sirkal’ Derby’

Gor Mahia and Kenya Police face off in what has been described as ‘Sirkal Derby’ on Sunday and here is all you need to know about the highly-billed clash.

There is no love lost between Kenya Police and Gor Mahia after the rivalry between the two heightened last season when the law enforcers dislodged K’Ogalo from the top of the tree.

Gor Mahia are the undisputed kings of Kenyan football with 21 titles to their name but Police ensured it would not be a third one on the bounce when they won the 2024-25 crown and heading into Sunday’s meeting, both sides want to show who is boss.

Police, who are the host team, are going through a transition following the sacking of title-winning Burundian coach Etienne Ndayiragije and the appointment of Serbian Dusan Stojanovic, while K’Ogalo seem to have turned a corner under their new Ghanaian tactician Charles Akonnor.

Stojanovic started his reign with a 1-0 win over Sofapaka, their first victory in four games, and will be hoping to add K’Ogalo to their list of casualties in what has been described as ‘Sirkal Derby.’

Police, who are ninth on the table with eight points from four matches, can move to within two of Gor Mahia if they win and they would still have two matches in hand.

However, beating Gor Mahia will not be a walk in the park as K’Ogalo are on a five-match unbeaten run, having won four and drawn one over that period.

In fact, Gor Mahia have only conceded one goal during that time, which came in their 1-1 draw with Ulinzi Stars last time out, and Police have their work cut out.

The record champions are placed second on the standings on 13 points from six games, one behind leaders Kakamega Homeboyz, and will not want to be pegged back now that Abana Abeingo have what appears to be an easy match on paper against Murang’a Seal.

Head-to-Head Record

Meetings between Gor Mahia and Police have been even, although the law enforcers have a slight advantage as in their eight meetings, they have three wins to K’Ogalo’s two.

Three matches have ended in draws although Police are unbeaten in their last four games against Gor Mahia with K’Ogalo last beating them in April 2023.

Last season, Police won the first leg 1-0 in December 2024 before a 1-1 draw in June 2025. They had drawn 0-0 in November 2023 before Police won 3-1 in February 2024.

Team News

Gor Mahia have no injury concerns with Ghanaian Adukwaw Ebenezer having returned after his setback last month and with Austin Odhiambo also showing good form, they are well-stocked when it comes to creativity.

Shariff Musa has also been in good form, earning him a return to the Harambee Stars squad, while Felix Oluoch, who has two goals is also another to watch out for.
