Kaddu who joined the K’Ogalo from FUFA Big League side Kitara FC had a dream debut scoring a second half hattrick, to add to Austin Odhiambo and Peter Lwasa’s strikes.
Patrick Kaddu and former URA FC skipper Shafic Kagimu made dream debuts at Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Gor Mahia, in a 5-0 thumping of bottom side Vihiga on Wednesday.
Kaddu who joined the K’Ogalo from FUFA Big League side Kitara FC had a dream debut scoring a second half hattrick, to add to Austin Odhiambo and Peter Lwasa’s strikes.
Kagimu, who only joined the club five days ago had a strong debut in the middle of the park.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been a free agent since February this year when he parted ways with StarTimes Ugandan Premier League side URA FC.
He joined the record KPL champions on a short term four-month contract with a move to the Turkish Super Lig. Penned for July.
Kaddu’s first was a thumping header at the far post in the 52nd minute, five minutes after he had missed a glorious opportunity to score his first for the club in a similar situation.
Kaddu showcased his predatory instincts two minutes later as he latched on to Austin Odhiambo’s cross, going on to complete his hattrick with eight minutes to go.
Kagimu and Kaddu are among the foreign players head coach Johnathan McKinstry, who has previously worked as Uganda Cranes and Rwanda coach, has recruited to bolster his squad as Gor Mahia seek to reclaim the league title for the first time since 2019.
Rwanda international defender Emery Bayisenge is the other foreign player who joined Gor Mahia during the February/March transfer window.
K'Ogalo have not recruited outside their structures in two transfer windows due to a FIFA transfer ban that was occasioned by a breach of player contracts.
The new signings bolster what has been a lean 18 player squad, which was mostly recruited from the youth team after a player exodus following the uncertainity that gripped Kenyan football last year.
The victory helped Gor Mahia maintain their six-point lead at the top of the KPL standings over Tusker FC despite playing a game more and rivals AFC Leopards who are third on 48 points.
K’Ogalo visit Sofapaka FC on April 5, while Leopards and Tusker meet in a massive showdown at the Nyayo National Stadium.
