Pep Guardiola hinted at a future break from coaching, leaving questions about what comes next after his time at Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola has sparked controversy with his recent admission concerning his future after exiting Manchester City.

Guardiola revealed that he is unsure about when he will retire but noted that after leaving Manchester City, he will surely take a break from managerial roles.

He has spent his longest time as a coach at Manchester City, having been at Barcelona for four years and Bayern Munich for only three years. At Man City, he has worked as a coach for nine years and is still counting.

Pep Guardiola signed a two-year contract extension in November last year and is set to stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2027.

His time at Man City has seen him enjoy great success, leading the club to six Premier League titles and also delivering a maiden Champions League triumph.

However, he has struggled to make an impact this season since they are now 21 points behind Premier League champions Liverpool. They are also fighting for a spot in the Champions League next season.

Guardiola disclosed that he will take some time alone, just like he did between spells in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Pep Guardiola is not concerned about what people would think of him as he expressed satisfaction in how he has worked with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now at Manchester City.

He added that if he dies, people will only mourn him for a short time and then life will move on; hence the decision to only do what he feels is right in his eyes.

"After my contract with City, I'm going to stop. I'm sure. I don't know if I'm going to retire, but I'm going to take a break. How I want to be remembered, I don't know,” Guardiola told ESPN Brasil.

"All coaches want to win so we can have a memorable job, but I believe that the fans of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City had fun watching my teams play. I don't think we should ever live thinking about whether we're going to be remembered.”

The veteran tactician added that he will not be exiting Manchester City but was just thinking about life after leaving the club.

He is unsure of when he will leave the club but pointed out that he will certainly have to spend time with his family.

"Nooo! No, no, no I didn't say I'm leaving now or at the end of the season. Well, if they sack me, yes," he said.

"But I'm saying when I finish my time here, I don't know in one year, two years, three years, four years, five years, six years -- I don't know -- I will take a break. I won't retire but I will take a break, for sure."

Manchester City's damaging five-match losing streak in October and November saw them crash out of the Carabao Cup and fall out of the Premier League title chase.

Guardiola’s men have since regained some form, climbing to fourth in the table and booking a spot in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace on May 17.
