Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has explained his selfie celebration that could land him in trouble with the FA.

Liverpool edged Arsenal to secure their 20th league title and match Manchester United's joint-record tally.

The Egyptian winger has been integral to Liverpool's campaign, and Sunday was no different, but his celebration during their triumph could land him in trouble with the English Football Association (FA).

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has explained his celebration during their 5-1 thumping of Tottenham on their way to clinching the English Premier League (EPL) title.

Salah was among the scorers as Liverpool thumped Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 on Sunday at Anfield Stadium.

Salah netted the fourth goal as the Reds came from behind courtesy of goals from Luis Díaz, Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, and an own goal by Destiny Udogie.

Dominic Solanke had netted the opener for Tottenham.

However, Salah's celebration when he scored to make it 4-1 was rather inventive and something he has been doing over the course of the season.

The Liverpool forward is known for his post-match selfies with Liverpool scorers. However, this time he decided to celebrate with one of the fans in the Kop.

After scoring, Salah got a phone from one of the Anfield stewards for a celebration selfie, which he has now explained was pre-planned.

"At the beginning of the season, I always take selfies with players [who score], so for this one I said, 'OK, I have to think of something special because it's a picture that's going to be there forever'," Salah told BBC Sport.

However, the issue stems from the fact that the phone Salah used is manufactured by one of Liverpool's sponsors, Google Pixel, according to BBC Sport.

Salah's selfie, posted to his social media, has garnered millions of views that some argue could be viewed as advertising for the Liverpool sponsor.

The FA has rules around advertising on kits and betting companies.

However, there do not appear to be specific rules prohibiting such an incident, even if it was intentional marketing.

There have been similar incidents in the EPL previously, such as former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli's famous selfie.
