Pep Guardiola has opened up about Liverpool winning the English Premier League title and what to expect from City next season.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has broken his silence after Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions on Sunday.

The Citizens had won a remarkable four league titles in a row but that sequence has now been ended by Arne Slot's Liverpool, after the 5-1 thumping of Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield secured the title that has evaded the team for the last five years according to the Daily Mail.

Man City's disastrous season has enabled the former Champions League winners to stay fourth on the log as the fight for Champions league slot enters the homestretch.

Worse for City, Liverpool won the title after opening a 21-point difference.

Although Guardiola was left frustrated with City's showing this season he was eager to congratulate Liverpool, maintaining that his charges will bounce stronger next season.

"I want to congratulate Liverpool. It is well deserved, a fantastic team, and hopefully next season we can be better. This season it couldn't be possible, so congratulations to Liverpool."

Liverpool now have 20 league titles overall, taking them level with Manchester United. City, meanwhile, have won the league ten times, with six of those successes coming under Guardiola.

There have been some intense battles between City and Liverpool for the title in the past and it will be intriguing to see whether Guardiola's team can bounce back next season.

City will be looking to secure silverware in the FA Cup, having reached the final where they will face Crystal Palace.
