Harambee Stars prospect Onyango got himself an assist for Everton playing as a center back although they lost 3-2 to Blackburn on Friday night.

Harambee Stars prospect Tyler Onyango showcased his talent with an assist but couldn't prevent Everton U23s from suffering a 3-2 defeat to Blackburn in a Premier League 2 clash on Friday night.

Onyango, who played as a center back, put in a solid individual performance during his 66-minute spell on the pitch before being substituted.

The 20-year-old has made four Premier League appearances for Everton's senior side since 2021 and has had loan spells at Burton Albion and Forest Green Rovers.

Born and raised in Luton, Onyango remains eligible to represent both England and Kenya at the international level, having previously played for England at the U-17 level.

Blackburn opened the scoring in the 39th minute through Harrison Wood, who finished off a well-executed team move. Igor Tyjon played a defense-splitting pass to Nsangou, who squared the ball to Wood, leaving him with an empty net to slot the ball into.

However, Everton quickly responded, with Charlie Whittaker equalizing just two minutes later. Onyango's low cross from the right found Whittaker, who fired a close-range effort into the roof of the net against his former side.

Blackburn regained the lead in the 63rd minute when Tyjon scored with a low, driven strike that squeezed between the near post and the outstretched arms of the Everton goalkeeper.

The drama continued as Mohamed Kouyate leveled the score again in the 81st minute, volleying past the Blackburn goalkeeper after a clever lofted through-ball from Jenson Metcalfe.

Blackburn secured the victory in the 85th minute, with Tyjon completing his brace with a superb volley that crashed against the crossbar and into the net, sealing a 3-2 win for Rovers.

Despite the defeat, Onyango's performance was a bright spot for Everton U23s, and his continued development will be encouraging for both the club and the Harambee Stars as he looks to make an impact at the senior level in the future.
