Benson Omala leads the FKF Premier League scoring charts, aiming for Golden Boot glory while Gor Mahia enjoys a solid lead.

Benson Omala is a man on a mission as he continues to score goals, setting himself up at the top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) top scorers table.

With an impressive nine goals in 16 league games this season, Omala's journey to the top has been nothing short of remarkable.

The 22-year-old has proven to be reliable both in the air and on the ground making him a standout player in the league.

Last season, Omala narrowly missed out on the top scorers' title, finishing as the runner-up with an impressive 26 goals.

However, this season, he has his sights set firmly on the Golden Boot, and he is leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of glory.

His closest competitors, Francis Kahiro of KCB FC, Boniface Muchiri of Ulinzi Stars, Vincent Owino of Nairobi City Stars, and Kakamega Homeboyz's Moses Shumah, all have six goals each.

Bandari's Derrcik Nsibambi, Brian Yakhama of AFC Leopards, Batts Awita of Murang'a Seal, and Godfrey Onyango of Kariobangi Sharks have notched up five goals each.

Among them, Onyango can draw inspiration from former Kariobangi Sharks players Masoud Juma and Erick Kapaito, who both clinched the Golden Boot during their time with the Eastlands club.

Omala's journey to securing the Golden Boot this season will undoubtedly be influenced by Gor Mahia's overall performance.

The team currently enjoys a healthy lead at the top of the table, sitting five points ahead of Posta Rangers, who have collected 29 points so far.

For Omala, the challenge now is to maintain his exceptional form and secure his starting spot throughout the season.

Last season, he led the scoring charts for the majority of the campaign, only to be narrowly overtaken by Kenya Police's Elvis Rupia in the final match of the season.

This season, he will be determined to go one step further and claim the Golden Boot as his own.

His team, Gor Mahia, remains unbeaten this season, and look formidable in all departments, especially with the striking department showing sharpness.
