Sally Bolo has defended the legitimacy of Alphonse Omija's move to ES Sahel after fans raised questions about transparency and conflict of interest in the transfer process.

Alphonse Omija’s transfer to Etoile Sportive du Sahel, commonly known as ES Sahel, one of Tunisia’s top clubs based in Sousse, has been clouded by uncertainties, with fans demanding answers about crucial information.

Alphonse Omija made the bold move after his African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024) exploits, where he scored once, during Kenya’s match against Madagascar in the quarterfinal.

Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy then called him up to the squad to face The Gambia and Seychelles in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches. However, he had to leave abruptly to complete his move before the transfer window closed.

Alphonse Omija, managed by Salient Sports Management, where Gor Mahia Vice President is allegedly a top official.

One fan raised a concern asking: “Transfer fees are kept a secret between officials to enjoy while clubs are starved the real money @bedjosessien. Where's Alphonce Omija's transfer fee? @soka25east?”

“The involvement of Sally Bolo in both the management of GorMahia Football Club and the representation of players contracted to the same club raises a clear case of conflict of interest,” another fan asked.

Despite the concerns raised, Gor Mahia Vice President Sally Bolo has distanced herself from being involved in Alphonse Omija’s transfer to the Tunisian club.

Sally Bolo revealed that she has been following the debate and wanted to address the wrong accusations for once and for all.

She revealed that the Tunisian club approached Gor Mahia with an offer for Alphonse Omija, and the executive committee sat and deliberated over the matter. She added that the committee sanctioned the transfer.

“The player has for the last four years been managed by Salient Sports Management. The company through its FIFA licensed agents had to step in and negotiate the best package for the player after both clubs had agreed to do business as per FIFA rules and regulations,” she added in the statement.

“The transfer was above board and was duly signed off by Gor Mahia EC. I did not initiate the transfer of the player as alluded to by those clamouring for my neck, neither did I sell the player.”

Alphonse Omija has already featured for his new club as a central defender, as they drew 1-1, and he will be looking to cement his place in the starting 11.
