The tactician has terminated his contract with the club he led to fourth place in the 2022/23 season.

Nzoia Sugar FC have confirmed the departure of their highly-rated midfielder, Kevin Juma to Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) champinos Gor Mahia.

The Bungoma-based side have also confirmed that head coach Salim Babu has moved to Kenya Police FC.

"Our head coach, Salim Babu, has terminated his contract with the club and is set to join the coaching team of Kenya Police FC. The club has also released midfielder Kevin Juma, who is set to join Gor Mahia on a four-year contract as a free agent," Nzoia Sugar confirmed.

Juma's move to the local heavyweights ends the speculation over his future that had dominated the transfer rumour mill. The transfer to the league champions is seen as an improvement for him.

Apart from the stiff competition he is set to face, playing at the continental level will also help him brush shoulders with the best players around the continent in the CAF Champions League. The switch is expected to bolster his chances of winning silverware, given the regularity with which Gor Mahia have lifted trophies.

It is also the best launch pad to impress the national team coaches and be considered for future Harambee Stars assignments. He adds to the list of the latest players to leave Nzoia for Gor Mahia; Lawrence Juma and Boniface Omondi have done it before.

His exit, together with Babu's, will be a huge blow to the Sugar Millers, who will now need to find replacements and rebuild all over again. Hassan Beja, Boniface Munyendo, and Joseph Mwangi are also reportedly close to the exit door, with AFC Leopards lurking ready to scoop players from Nzoia.

On the other hand, Babu has left the club after a sensational season he had with the Bungoma-based club. The former Western Stima and Sony Sugar head coach is expected to sign for Police FC and deputise Francis Baraza.

Since they were promoted to the top tier, Police have shown ambition to end the recent Tusker-Gor Mahia dominance in Kenyan soccer. They have already signed Kenneth Muguna, a former skipper and Premier League winner with Gor Mahia, and Tyson Otieno, from Kariobangi Sharks, who had been linked with Gor Mahia.

In the last transfer window, Police signed Harun Shakava, Clifton Miheso, Musa Mohammed, Elvis Rupia, Patrick Matasi, and Abud Omar in their bid to build a competitive playing unit. Their intentions, with the signing of Muguna and Otieno, are clear again this transfer window, and this points to their ultimate ambition: a Premier League title win.
