Gor Mahia will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face second from bottom Muhoroni Youth in Homa Bay on Sunday

Gor Mahia will be out to get back to winning ways when they take on Muhoroni Youth at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Sunday.

K’Ogalo are still the only unbeaten side in the FKF Premier League but have not been on a roll recently, drawing three of their last five games, two of them back-to-back, and failing to capitalise on leaders Posta Rangers’ three straight stalemates.

Still, Gor Mahia are only four points behind John Kamau’s men and with a match in hand and can move to within a point if they record victory against Muhoroni.

Even more worrying for coach Johnathan McKinstry is that the goals seem to have dried up with those three drawn matches all ending 0-0.

Gor have only scored more than one goal once since the start of October, when they beat AFC Leopards 2-0, and it could be two months if they fail to run riot against Charles Odera’s side in Homa Bay.

Top scorer Benson Omala has also gone four games without scoring and will hope that his goal for the national team Harambee Stars on Monday will be the catalyst for a great run in front of goal at club level.

K’Oglao heavily relied on Omala for goals last season and it looks like that will be the case again this campaign since the rest of the cast have failed to rise to the occasion whenever the striker does not score.

Gor Mahia and Muhoroni played out a barren draw when the two teams met in Muhoroni in May which will give Odera confidence of a similar result given K’Ogalo’s recent run.

However, McKisntry will also draw inspiration from the 4-0 first leg win his side recorded against Muhoroni in February and given Sunday’s opponents are second from bottom on the table and lost three straight games.

Gor are in Homa Bay which holds significance for the club historically as it is where the club traces its roots and will be hoping to benefit greatly from the impact of the 12th man with plenty of fans expected to witness the occasion.
