Gor Mahia coach Johnathan McKinstry has expressed his delight at the club’s unstoppable supporters for their dedication and loyalty over the years.

Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has paid tribute to Gor Mahia supporters for their dedication and loyalty towards their team.

K’Ogalo supporters have been ever present during their team’s matches, playing a pivotal role in their success over the years, and this season is no different.

Whether playing in Nairobi, Machakos, Homa Bay, or any other corner of the country, the Green Army follows them throughout and the extra push has seen the team repay the faith with positive results that leave them as the team to beat in FKF Premier League yet again this season.

It is this family spirit that has left McKinstry in awe and he has urged them not to relent as the players push to defend their league crown and make it a record-extending 21 titles.

“Some of these guys were in Ukunda last week and it is not easy. They travel all over the country,” said McKinstry.

“It is not cheap to come and watch games, you have to spend your transport, feed yourself for the day, and buy your ticket to come into the game and all this merchandise these guys buy. We really respect that loyal dedication, that obsession because Gor Mahia is a family.

“The last picture the guys see on the pre-match team meeting is always a picture of the anthem being sung where you could see both the players and the fans because what we say to the players is, this is all of us together and if we give energy on the field, the fans will give energy from the stands and then it just builds.

“Both of us working together, we have had some games like that in the past where we have got the energy from the players and the fans and I do not think there is any team in East Africa that can stop that sort of juggernaut.”

McKinstry was speaking after the K’Ogalo faithful showed up in large numbers in Machakos to support the team during last Saturday’s league match against Posta Rangers which the defending champions won 4-0.

The tactician will be hoping to see the same when his side travel to Mombasa to take on Bandari this weekend in what is a tricky match as the second-placed Dockers are among the few teams with a slim chance of winning the title.
