Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has sparked rumours of a return to a club where he first made his name following his departure from Saudi Arabia.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona striker has returned to Saint-Etienne, the French club that nurtured his career, before he went on to become a global superstar at European clubs that also include Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.
Currently, the visit is being considered a friendly gesture. The 36-year-old Gabonese forward recently departed Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah and is now a free agent.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reveals dream target after tormenting Benni McCarthy's Harambee Stars
After denting Harambee Stars World Cup hopes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has explained his next target.
Aubameyang played for Saint-Etienne from 2011 to 2013, becoming a firm favourite with supporters who still fondly remember his time at the club. While there's no official word on whether he will sign with Saint-Etienne, his presence has certainly sparked excitement.
Last season, Aubameyang made 36 appearances for Al-Qadsiah, scoring an impressive 21 goals and providing three assists. His contract expired this summer, and both parties agreed not to renew.
Aubameyang also played a key part in Gabon’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers as he scored both goals as the Panthers beat Harambee Stars 2-1 at Nyayo Stadium in March to all but end Kenya’s slim hopes of making it to the tournament.
