Gor Mahia thrashed KCB to open up a six-point league lead over AFC Leopards in the FKF Premier League title race.

Gor Mahia made it 11 games without defeat and six wins on the bounce when they thrashed KCB 3-0 to extend their lead at the top of the FKF Premier League table to six points.

K’Ogalo were out of sight by halftime as they made KCB pay for their mistakes with some well-taken goals.

Enock Morrison continued his impressive run of form when he broke the deadlock after 24 minutes with a long-range shot that left the KCB goalkeeper with no chance.

It took Gor Mahia four minutes to double their advantage as Shariff Musa weaved his way past his markers and slotted home for 2-0 inside 28 minutes.

With the rains pounding the Nyayo Stadium pitch, the conditions became wet and slippery but it did not deter the Gor Mahia attackers from penetrating the KCB defence as Samuel Kapen put the result beyond doubt with a third goal on the stroke of halftime.

After the break, Gor Mahia slowed the momentum of the game but Kapen still had a chance to make it 4-0 in the 56th minute although he saw his chance go begging.

Charles Akonnor’s men stayed firm to win their sixth game in a row and it is now 11 since Gor Mahia last tasted defeat, being their 1-0 Mashemeji Derby loss to AFC Leopards on December 7.

With the win, Gor Mahia remain top of the table but with 46 points from 21 matches, six ahead of second-placed Leopards, who have one game in hand.

It boosts their chances of reclaiming the league crown from holders Kenya Police, who are 15 points behind in seventh position, and look to have kissed the title goodbye.
