A former K'Ogalo treasurer has called for unity and revival as AFC Leopards struggle in the FKF Premier League.

Former Gor Mahia treasurer Sally Bolo has voiced her deep concern regarding the recent performances of arch-rivals AFC Leopards in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).

The twelve-time league champions find themselves in a troubling position this season, and Bolo believes it is time for a comprehensive examination of their challenges.

In a recent FKF Premier League match, Leopards faced off against Bandari, with Czech tactician Thomas Trucha returning to the helm to salvage the sinking ship.

Unfortunately for Ingwe, their woes exacerbated as Derrick Nsibambi scored in the 57th minute, securing a 1-0 victory for Bandari. This defeat left AFC Leopards languishing in the 17th place on the table, without a single win this season and just four points from seven matches.

In contrast, Gor Mahia, their long-standing rivals, have been enjoying a more favorable season. They currently sit in the second spot on the table with 15 points from seven matches, following their recent 1-0 victory over Tusker.

Sally Bolo, a prominent figure in the world of Kenyan football, could not ignore the plight of AFC Leopards and expressed her thoughts on their current predicament.

"As a vested stakeholder in the world of football, and someone who genuinely values and appreciates community-based clubs, it pains me to witness our arch-rivals, AFC Leopards, languishing in the relegation zone in the current FKF league standings," Bolo stated.

She highlighted that AFC Leopards have both sponsorship and unwavering support from their dedicated fan base, with admirable match attendance at both home and away fixtures. Despite this, the club has been struggling to achieve success on the field, with over two decades passing since their last league title win.

Bolo issued a personal challenge to the leadership, technical staff, and players of AFC Leopards, urging them to rally and improve their club's fortunes for the sake of their loyal fans. She emphasized that a strong and competitive AFC Leopards is essential for the overall quality and growth of Kenyan football.

"At Gor Mahia, we understand the significance of having strong rivals. A formidable AFC Leopards pushes us to our limits, spurs us to greater heights, and ultimately enhances the overall quality of Kenyan football.

"Let us stand united and ensure the resurgence of AFC Leopards, for a thriving and competitive league benefits us all. It's not only a matter of pride but also an essential catalyst for the growth and development of football in our community," Bolo concluded.

AFC Leopards' recent struggles have been evident in their string of disappointing results, including identical goalless draws against FC Talanta and Muhoroni Youth, as well as 1-1 and 2-2 draws against Shabana and Kenya Police, respectively.

Their hopes were further dashed with a 2-0 loss to arch-rivals Gor Mahia in the Mashemeji Derby and a 1-0 defeat to KCB.

As AFC Leopards look ahead, their next challenge lies in a match against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma this weekend.
