Kenya desperately need this victory to kickstart their quest for 2026 World Cup appearance.

Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has warned his charges not to underestimate Seychelles, who are considered the minnows of Group F when both sides clash on Monday evening in a clash set to take place on a neutral ground in Ivory Coast.

Seychelles were absolutely battered and ruined to shreds by Ivory Coast, losing 9-0 on Friday night.

Harambee Stars lost 2-1 to Gabon a day earlier, but do have a chance to get back to winning ways against Seychelles.

Speaking before their high-stakes clash, Firat insisted that there will be no “underdogs experience” considering the fact even Gambia, who are 2021 AFCON quarter finalists after their football made significant strides over the last five years, lost to Burundi away from home.

“The group is not easy as there are no underdogs experience. You see Gambia lost to Burundi. It is not so simple,” Firat said as quoted by Nation Sport.

The Turkish tactician predicts that everything will be open in the end, which will be seen in the last round of matches in 2025.

Firat attributed Kenya’s loss in the opening encounter against Gabon to a long list of injuries that have plagued the team in recent weeks.

Kenya missed the services of  Joseph Okumu (Reims, France), Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma (AIK, Sweden), and Daniel Anyembe (Viborg, Denmark).

However, the absence of those players is not deterring him from thinking that they can get all three points on Monday afternoon.

He has nonetheless insisted that the last game will be “a must win” for them.

“In this group, everything is going to be open in the end. We will see it in the last match. This is a must win for us and we have to go out and win.”

Seychelles are ranked 195th in the world, while Kenya sit 110th.
