Shabana, Murang’a Seal, Gaming firm SportPesa and Football Kenya Federation have cleared the air over KBC’s failure to broadcast the clash between both sides that was held at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a on Sunday afternoon.

The game, which resulted in a 0-0 draw, saw both sides, who are both sponsored by the gaming firm that is also the league’s title sponsor, struggle to create meaningful opportunities that would have otherwise seen them with a real chance of grabbing all three points.

In a joint statement released and seen by Pulse Sports on Sunday afternoon, the match did not take place due to “capacity challenges encountered by the production company”.

Accusations circling around over alleged interference by either club to prevent the game from being aired have been branded “false and unfounded”.

This was meant to be the first game televised by KBC since 2024, the last time a top flight match was aired by the broadcaster, back when Ababu Namwamba was still the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Youth and the Arts.
