Benni McCarthy Breaks Down How Harambee Stars Handed Him First Win as He Makes Big CHAN 2024 Promise
Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has explained reasons behind his team’s victory over Chad and what gives him high hopes for a great performance during CHAN 2024.
The incident raised concerns over the digital security of charitable organizations and their vulnerability to cyber threats.
In response to the breach, Wanyama issued an official statement through his Facebook page to alert the public about the hack and warn against any communications emerging from the compromised account.
"Please be advised that the official Instagram account of the Victor Wanyama Foundation has been compromised, and we are currently not in control of it," he wrote.
"We are actively working to resolve the issue and regain access. In the meantime, kindly disregard any messages or posts coming from the account, as they are from scammers," he added.

The Instagram hack comes at a critical time for the foundation, which has been expanding its footprint in youth empowerment through sports and education.
Established in November 2019, the foundation aims to uplift underprivileged youth by nurturing their athletic talents while also providing them with holistic education.
As highlighted by Wanyama when launching the foundation, the vision is clear: offer a platform where vulnerable youth can "horn their talents" and access opportunities previously beyond their reach.

Harambee Stars Player Ratings: Who Shined in Benni McCarthy's First Win over Chad?
Debutant Emmanuel Osoro was among those who stole the show in Harambee Stars' clash with Chad.
In 2023, Pulse Sports reported the foundation's most ambitious initiative yet — the construction of the Wanyama Academy in Busia. Built on a 22-acre plot, the facility is designed to become a hub for athletic and academic excellence.
State-of-the-Art Academy with a Dual Mission
The academy's layout includes an administration block with a reception and offices, multiple high-quality football pitches for training and official matches, and residential facilities for players and staff.
Teachers’ quarters, dormitories, and coaching spaces are also being developed to support a self-contained educational and sporting environment.
Wanyama’s brother, former midfielder McDonald Mariga, has been a vocal supporter of the initiative.
He envisions a space where students can receive a solid education alongside professional football training — creating a safety net for young athletes in case their sporting careers do not materialize.
