Botswana Premier League team Gaborone United hires a new physical trainer, enhancing their fitness approach amidst a promising season.

Botswana Premier League side Gaborone United, to which Kenyan midfielder Duncan Otieno is signed to, has ushered in a new era of physical fitness.

In a strategic move to reinforce their standing in the league, the club announced on Thursday the appointment of the highly-acclaimed Kebonang Lekobane as their new physical trainer.

Although the club has not disclosed the terms and duration of Lekobane's contract, his impressive track record in the fitness industry speaks volumes.

His journey in the field commenced back in 2014 when he was in his final year as a Physical Education student at the University Of Botswana.

By 2016, Lekobane took on the role of a group exercise and floor instructor for Virgin Active Airport Junction, marking the commencement of a promising career.

“Gaborone United would like to announce the appointment of Kebonang Lekobane as Physical Trainer. Lekobane joins the Club with immediate effect. He comes to the Club with a lot of experience having worked with the Junior national teams and Township Rollers," read the club official statement.

Over the years, Lekobane’s contributions to sports in Botswana have been noteworthy.

He notably served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the netball Under-20 squad during the World Youth Championship held in Gaborone four years ago.

His most recent professional engagement saw him at the Botswana Football Association, where he committed his expertise to the women's national under 20 team, holding the pivotal role of a fitness trainer.

Lekobane’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Gaborone United, a team that has been showing impressive form this season.

Currently positioned second on the Botswana Premier League table, the team has accumulated seven points from the three matches they have played so far.

With a key fixture against Oropa United slated for Saturday afternoon at Itekeng Stadium, the addition of Lekobane to the coaching staff signifies the club’s intent to optimize their performance and maintain their momentum.
