Pulse Sports highlights the deals that have been completed in the first two weeks of the FKF Premier League midseason transfer window
FKF Premier League’s midseason transfer window has now completed its second week and with three more to go, a number of teams have wasted no time to beef up their squads.
A lot of movements have been witnessed with players switching teams to either sign for sides doing better in the top division or those paying more.
So far, key transfers have already gone through with some made public while others are yet to be revealed. At the conclusion of the second week of the January 8 to February 8 transfer window, Pulse Sports highlights the done deals so far.
Gor Mahia
With Ugandan midfielder Rogers Mugisha completing a transfer to Denmark, speedy winger Shariff Musa has joined the Kenyan champions from Bidco United.
Musa reportedly turned down overtures from Kenya Police and Bandari to sign for Gor Mahia and was unveiled on Saturday before K’Ogalo’s 1-10 win over Tusker FC.
AFC Leopards
AFC Leopards were hoping for a busy midseason window but have so far had to deal with a quiet one as key targets continue to prove difficult to get.
Coach Tomas Trucha wants central defenders, a midfielder and strikers but so far, only young forwards Mark Shaban and Christopher Koloti from Green Commandos have officially joined.
Tusker
Tusker have not announced any signing from outside but fended off interest from Leopards to extend the contract of defender Michael Kibwage for an extra six months after his deal expired at the end of 2023.
KCB
KCB reacted to their 5-0 drubbing by Tusker with an announcement of five new signings led by former Muhoroni Youth striker Collins Neto who joined on a six-months deal.
Another striker joining them was Shadrack Simiyu from Compel Fc who was top scorer in the FKF Division One Zone B league with nine goals and also won the golden boot at Cleo Malala tournament after bagging 13 goals.
In defence, KCB brought in former Bidco United FC centre-back Francis Oduor and 19-year-old Lameck Luhangala from The Scorpions Musingu with winger Vincent Ondabu also joining from Equity FC.
Bandari FC
KCB’s transfer business was largely informed by key departures in Harambee Stars goalkeeper Bryne Omondi and striker Francis Kahiro, who has six goals this season, both ditching them for Bandari FC.
Bandari, who also handed new deals to coach John Baraza and goalkeeper trainer Jerim Onyango, further brought in striker Mohamed Barisa from struggling Nzoia Sugar, goalkeeper Abdulrahaman Mwinyi from Mombasa Elite, Rashid Abdallah Super Cup MVP Hamisi Mwaphalu and striker David Sakwa from Kiminini Combined.
The dockers have also extended the contract of Ugandan striker Derrick Nsibambi and promoted Willy Gitama, Izzadin Ramadhan and David Wanyama from their Youth team.
Sofapaka
Batoto ba Mungu have so far brought in the largest number after signing eight players.
Sofapaka turned to lower leagues for reinforcements with centre-back Victor Odhiambo from Murang’a Seal the only one coming from a Premier League team.
Defender Stallone Goal Asaba from NSL side Kibera United as well as the pair of Nelson Likhanga and midfielder Finlay Sanduku, both from Mathare North FC, arrived with midfielder Adan Dida Godana from ESEC Huruma as well as Rodgers Kipkemboi from Sunderland AFC Keroche the others.
Sofapaka also brought in two goalkeepers, Victor Augo Akumu, from Dandora Youth, and Levis Ochieng from Mathare United.
Shabana
Tore Bobe are the other clubs who have opted to do most of their business early with striker Mathew Tegisi from local rivals Gusii FC, left-back Lamela Maneno from Tanzanian side Sindiga and midfielders Japhet Lihanda and Brian Odhimabo from Rainbow FC and Darajani Gogo respectively arriving this month.
Kakamega Homeboyz
Homeboyz coach Patrick Odhiambo said last month that he would not be busy in the midseason transfer market and but he has not been true to his word with youngster Oliver Majak, ex-KCB forward Cliff Oruko and goalkeeper Simon Masaka from Sofapaka joining so far.
Ulinzi Stars
Ulinzi Stars have roped in three youngsters in 18-yearold Javan Omondi from St Anthony's Boys, Edward Odhiambo and Leshan Mootian, both from Division Two sides Vickers FC, and Kahawa United respectively.
Nairobi City Stars
Simba wa Nairobi have not made additions to their squad but would feel like Japanese striker Yuto ‘Mitoma’ Kusaba is a new signing after finally registering him this month, having waited since September when he did not meet the deadline.
Murang’a Seal
The struggling newly-promoted side have signed former Thika United and KCB midfielder Dennis Odhiambo to add bite and experience in the middle of the park.
Nzoia Sugar
Bottom-placed Nzoia Sugar are going through all sorts of problems and have also turned to lower league sides for reinforcements, bringing in defender Daniel Masengo from Shitaho Soccer Club, striker Washington Manyonyi from Rosterman United and defender Sharif Ali from Muhoroni Youth.
FC Talanta
FC Talanta have roped in defensive midfielder Larry Odhiambo from Equity FC.
Posta Rangers
Posta Rangers, meanwhile, have brought in midfielder Oliver Maloba from Sofapaka on a one-year contract.
