K'Ogalo and Homeboyz gear up for continental showdown as CAF introduces expanded squad limit.

CAF has announced the player registration deadline for the upcoming 2023/2024 Champions League and Confederation Cup tournaments, urging participating clubs to finalize their squads before the end of July.

Kenyan giants Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz will represent the country in these prestigious continental competitions as league champions and FKF Cup winners, respectively.

CAF's directive states that the registration window for player additions and transfers opened on July 1st and will remain active until July 31st.

However, the body explicitly warns that no replacements will be allowed after the July deadline, except for a maximum of four players who may be replaced in January, provided they have not already played in any interclub continental matches during the season.

Additionally, CAF has introduced multiple registration periods to accommodate the evolving needs of the teams.

The second registration period will open from August 1st to 31st, specifically for the second preliminary round. A third registration window is scheduled for September, ahead of the group stages.

The last registration opportunity will coincide with the January transfer window, allowing clubs to register a maximum of seven players who have not yet featured for any other club.

In a significant change, CAF has expanded the player registration limit from 30 to 40, granting clubs greater flexibility in squad selection. Furthermore, the governing body has decided to maintain the rule of allowing five substitutions during matches.

Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz, fueled by their recent domestic successes, are now in a race against time to finalize their squads for the forthcoming African football campaign.

With their sights set on making a lasting impact on the continent, both clubs are expected to leave no stone unturned in their quest for success.
