CECAFA's prospective representatives Vihiga Queens took part in the inaugural competition (eventually won by Mamelodi Sundowns) in 2021.

The 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League will be played in Ivory Coast between Sunday 5 to 19 November 2023.

The tournament is set to serve as a curtain-raiser for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, which will commence in January 2024.

The competition will bring together the top clubs across Africa – part of CAF’s commitment to grow Women’s Football in Africa.

Kenya’s prospective representatives Vihiga Queens took part in the inaugural competition (eventually won by Mamelodi Sundowns) in 2021, finishing fourth in Pool B on just three points, winning once and losing the other two of their fixtures.

The 2022 edition, hosted in Morocco, was won by ASFAR – the Moroccan club that pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament’s breif history, unseating defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in Rabat.

In line with CAF’s commitment to make African football competitions globally competitive, president Dr Patrice Motsepe announced that the winners of the competition would receive a prize money of USD 400 000 (Ksh. 56 million).

The CAF Women’s Champions League 2023 promises to be a perfect platform for Cote d’Ivoire not only to showcase its state of readiness in infrastructure but in mobilizing the country.
