The Migori-based side drew 0-0 at home in the first leg, before falling victim to a Collins Neto-inspired Wazito in the second.

Migori Youth FC coach Sammy Otulo is next season looking to earn a direct promotion to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) after falling short in the Promotion/Relegation Playoff against Wazito.

Migori secured a third-place finish in the National Super League (NSL), to set up a two-legged clash against Wazito in order to give them a chance at sealing promotion to the top flight for next season.

However, they drew 0-0 at home in the first leg, before falling victim to a Collins Neto-inspired Wazito in the second, subjecting them to another season of tier-two football.

“We made mistakes. In the first half, we created chances but did not utilize them. It has come back to haunt us in the second half,” Otulo said,

“In the first leg, we did not score a single goal, which also cost us a chance at promotion."

Otulo wants to secure promotion at the second time of asking next year but in a more favorable position. He wants to secure the automatic place and has challenged his boys to learn from the experience this year.

“We want to secure the top two positions next year. We do not want third place again. Fortunately, we got here, which has given us a learning experience on what to expect, and how we will solve the situation if we find ourselves here again.”

Otulo ideally wants to keep the same team, with minimal incomings and outgoings in order to maintain the shape and give them the cohesion needed to make amends next time.

“I want to maintain my team in order to make my work easier. If I can keep the core of players that I had this season, it will make it easier for us to secure promotion next season.
