Morocco and Madagascar will contest the CHAN 2024 tournament final at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday but how much is in store for them?

Kasarani Stadium will be the place to be as the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024) comes to a close on Saturday evening when Morocco and Madagascar contest the final.

The month-long tournament, which kicked off on August 2 across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar, has witnessed plenty of action and at the end of the day, only one team will be standing on the winners’ podium.

The onus is therefore on Morocco and Madagascar to do all they can to ensure they are at the top of the tree and winning the CHAN 2024 trophy will come with a big reward in prize money.

Morocco have already experienced what it feels like to win the tournament, having claimed it in 2018 and 2020, while Madagascar, who were third in 2022, are looking for their maiden crown.

How Much is at Stake in CHAN 2024 Final?

At CHAN 2024, tournament organisers CAF, increased the prize money by a massive 75 per cent and Morocco and Madagascar will be the biggest beneficiaries as they are in line to benefit from their heroics.

Either team is assured at least $1.2 million (Ksh155 million) as this is what will go to the losing finalist but whoever wins the tournament, $3.5 million (Ksh451 million) will be waiting for them.

It is certainly an extra motivation for both sides who bring two very different styles to the tournament.

Both sides are not new to Kasarani Stadium as Morocco faced co-hosts Kenya at the group stage, losing 1-0, while Madagascar beat Harambee Stars on post-match penalties at the same venue in the quarter-final.

However, that was under different circumstances as they were the ‘enemy’ playing against a partisan crowd but they will hope to enjoy more support this time round.
