NPFL side Remo Stars have started their CAF Champions League but on a shaky note following a bad day at the office in Ghana.

It was a bad day at the office for NPFL side Remo Stars as they kicked off their CAF Champions League with a defeat.

Ghanaian champions Medema SC proved to be a hard nut to crack for the Sky Blues following a narrow 1-0 defeat in Ghana on Sunday.

A first-half goal was all the home side needed to seal a first-leg advantage in the Champions League qualification round.

After a war of words between the two sides after the draw pitted both sides from Ghana and Nigeria, it was the Ghanaians who have the advantage now.

Remo Stars started well and dominated the game early on but it was the home side who took the lead following a deflected goal in the 22nd game.

The Sky Blues reacted positively to going behind as they pushed for the equaliser which proved elusive.

Medeama had some decent chances to add to the scoreline but Remo goalkeeper Bankole Kayode was a bulwark in between the sticks.

Medeama SC have been in celebration mood and can't wait for the CAFCL.

Remo fightback

Remo pressed on for the leveller in the second half, with Super Eagles Sikiru Alimi having the team’s best chance of the game.

However, the forward was unable to convert as he missed the sitter and chance to level the score.

Despite an improved second-half showing, Medeama held on to their narrow lead and will head into the second leg next week with a slim advantage.
