Jonah Ayunga will need to up his game at St.Mirren as the club is set to sign a Scottish goal-getter to keep him on his toes.

Jonah Ayunga will need to up his game at St.Mirren as the club is set to sign Exeter goal-getter James Scott on loan with manager Stephen Robinson seeking to bolster his squad with more options.

The Buddies hope to finalise a deal ahead of the weekend clash with Rangers. Boss Stephen Robinson has previously worked with Scott at Motherwell and that looks to be a deciding factor.

Several other Premiership rivals were also interested but Robinson’s relationship with the player has put him in pole position.

Scott left Motherwell for Hull in 2020. He also had a loan spell at Hibernian before he went to Exeter last year.

St Mirren have already signed defender Elvis Bwomono on freedom of contract and midfielder Hyeokkyu Kwon from Celtic. The move could open the door for Exeter to return to the Scottish market to land Joel Nouble from Livingston.

Ayunga will have to step up if he is to avoid being replaced by James Scott, who is a Scotland U21 international with hopes of eventually making the Scotland first team.

The Harambee Stars striker has scored two goals in 10 league appearances since making his return to full fitness after suffering a nasty nine-month-long injury last February.

Ayunga, received his first call-up to the Kenya national team on August 5, 2018, but did not play.
