After a top-flight career spanning 17 seasons between three clubs, Arsenal legend Theo Walcott retires from football.

Arsenal legend Theo Walcott has announced his retirement from football after a top-flight career spanning 17 seasons.

The 34-year-old completed a full circle, as he was from Southampton's academy and is now retiring after playing for the Saints last season. This followed a disappointing campaign that saw them drop into the Championship.

Walcott's Arsenal career and numbers

Despite being a product of Southampton's illustrious academy, it was at Arsenal that Walcott truly made his mark as a professional, spending 12 seasons at the club.

Walcott joined the Gunners in 2006 from Southampton for a reported £5 million fee that included add-ons that took the value up to £12 million.

He was given the No. 32 jersey, the kit number he started his football career with before he was handed the legendary Gunner, Thierry Henry's No. 14, in the 2008/09 season, and he held onto it until his final season at the club in the 2017/18 season.

Walcott went on to score 108 goals for Arsenal, a number that places him among the top 20 goal-scorers in the club's history, 65 of which were in the Premier League, and only six people have scored more for the Gunners in the competition. All of which he did in 397 appearances.

He won four trophies with Arsenal, two FA Cup titles, one of which he scored in the final, and two Community Shield trophies.

He left Arsenal for Everton, where he spent four seasons before returning to Southampton, where it all began for him.

Walcott's Three Lions career

The Stanmore-born forward was a highly rated youngster at the start of his career, and he still holds the Three Lions record of being the youngest debutant at 17 years old in 2006 and the youngest ever hat-trick scorer at 19 in 2008.

Although he did not win any titles with the Three Lions, he recorded 47 CAPS, while scoring eight goals.
