Real Madrid have reportedly reached a verbal agreement regarding Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from the club.

The latest development follows reports that Ancelotti is set to take over as the head coach of Brazil on an initial one-year contract leading up to the 2026 World Cup.

Discussions have been ongoing about the details of the Italian manager’s exit, particularly concerning his salary for the remaining year of his Real Madrid contract, which runs until 2026.

When will Real Madrid announce Ancelotti’s departure?

As reported by The Athletic, a formal announcement confirming Ancelotti’s exit is expected before the end of the current league season, potentially after the upcoming Clasico against Barcelona

Los Blancos are now considering potential replacements, with Xabi Alonso being a leading external candidate. Internally, director of football Santiago Solari is seen as a more likely option than Raul Gonzalez or Alvaro Arbeloa.

The Brazilian Football Confederation have described the experienced manager as their president's top choice and have been in talks with him since March.

While a contract signing with Brazil was initially expected in April, it was contingent on Ancelotti reaching a definitive agreement with the Spanish giants.

Considering one is expected soon, it allows him to take charge of Brazil for their World Cup qualifiers in June.

Ancelotti, who rejoined Real Madrid in 2021, has enjoyed a successful second spell, winning two LaLiga titles and the Champions League.
