AFC Leopards and Tusker could not get the win either side were looking for during their FKF Premier League clash in Machakos on Monday.

AFC Leopards and Tusker FC played out to a dour goalless draw in a game both sides needed to win at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Monday.

Both teams were toothless in attack in the FKF Premier League match and ended up sharing the spoils which will leave the two sets of fans frustrated as the poor run for their sides continue.

Leopards were the brighter side in the first half when Tusker goalkeeper Brian Bwire was forced to make a great save after 15 minutes to keep out Brain Yakhama’s header following a cross from Clifton Miheso.

Tusker had a chance five minutes later but Joseph Mwangi fired wide before Victor Otieno brought in a good cross that went over the bar.

Ten minutes to the break, Leopards came close again through Musa Oundo’s header but it went just wide before Miheso hit the side netting five minutes later.

Tusker then had a chance at the stroke of halftime when Erick Kapaito chested the ball down with David Odoyo connecting well on the half-volley but fired just wide.

After the break, both sides kept probing with Leopards getting the better chance which fell to Miheso in the 68th minute but his goal-bound shot was well blocked.

Boniface Onyango then curled in a late free-kick but Leopards goalkeeper Patrick Katasi was equal to the task as he tipped it over the bar.

The draw saw Leopards continue their struggle as it was their fourth stalemate in their last five games which sees them remain 14th on the log with 11 points while Tusker failed to make it back-to-back wins.

Robert Matano’s men were getting onto the pitch for the first time in three weeks but still lacked the sharpness and the draw does not help their course as they are 12th on the table on 15 points, 12 behind table-toppers Gor Mahia.

It is a result that will further put Matano in the spotlight since his team has managed just two wins out of their last eight games and appears out of the title race after just 13 games played.
