The striker was among five players that were recently released by Homeboyz.

Sofapaka have completed the signing of Eugene Wethuli from Kakamega Homeboyz on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old forward, who has been a free agent after leaving Homeboyz, has signed a contract with the 2009 Premier League champions.

Speaking after signing on the dotted line for Sofapaka, the skillful attacker said he is pleased to make the move.

“I am glad to have joined one of the most competitive teams in the country. Sofapaka is a great club with some rich history and this a perfect opportunity for me to advance my career and be part of history in the near future.

I have my work cut out before the league ends. It’s going to be a demanding task because I understand the club’s targets but I am confident I am up to the task and I look forward to at least contribute six to ten goals before the season concludes,” Wethuli told the club's website.

Wethuli previously played for Mathare United and the now-defunct Western Stima.

The striker was released by Kakamega Homeboyz alongside Christopher Masinza, Elli Asieche, Meshack Muyonga and Simon Abuko at the end of February.

Sources have revealed that the fate of the quintet was sealed by head coach Patrick Odhiambo, who gave the green light for the players to leave at the end of their contracts.

Wethuli could make his debut for Sofapaka against Gor Mahia in their FKFPL clash on Wednesday, April 5 at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

It is worth noting the FKFPL domestic transfer window was closed on Monday, March 27, at 5 pm, having been officially opened on February 27.
