Four matches were staged on Monday across the country.
On form, Naivas FC claimed a massive 3-1 win over fellow promotion candidates Mombasa Elite FC with Mwatate United walloping Vihiga United 5-0 in part of four National Super League (NSL) matches staged on Monday.
Naivas 3-1 Elite
The Elvis Ayany-coached side moved level on points with third-placed Murang'a Seal following the 3-1 win over Mombasa Elite.
The two teams were locked on 22 points apiece before kick-off but it was Naivas who had a blistering start to the game as they opened the scoring a minute before the half-hour mark through Brian Ouru.
Elite were however not to stay behind for long as they leveled proceedings a minute later through Emanuel Chaewe as the goal feast in a span of three minutes continued with Ouru wasting no time in sealing his brace with a strike in the 31st minute.
Naivas picked up from where they left in the second half as they put the game beyond Elite courtesy of John Kelwish’s goal a minute before the hour mark which sealed three vital points for the Shoppers.
Mwatate 5-0 Vihiga
Alvin Ngoto was the hero as he netted four goals in Mwatate United’s emphatic 5-0 win over struggling Vihiga United who are hovering perilously close to the relegation zone.
Brain Kipruto opened the scoring for the Wundanyi-based side in the 33rd minute before Ngoto grabbed his first three minutes later.
The second half saw Ngoto unleash the beast in him as he netted in the 56th, 67th, and 72nd minute to help his side return to winning ways following their 2-1 loss to Mombasa Elite last time out.
Gusii 0-1 MCF
Gusii FC missed out on a chance to move second on the log following their 1-0 home loss to Mully Children's Family FC.
The lone goal of the game was scored by Ratemo Joshua in the 82nd minute when it seemed that both sides would settle for a barren draw in the encounter.
Heroes 3-1 Silibwet
Troubled Silibwet Leons suffered their fourth consecutive loss after going down 3-1 at the hands of Coastal Heros who returned to winning ways after three games.
Karisa Samson opened the scoring for Heros in the 15th minute before Hosea Kipchirchir restored parity for Silibwet in the 32nd minute.
Kaingu Lucky, however, put Heros in the lead once again with a strike two minutes later and they went into the break with a healthy 3-1 lead with a goal from Mwanzia Ramadhan and that is how things ended.
