The gaffer will be making a return to the club after serving as the assistant coach back in 2021.

Kakamega Homeboyz have confirmed the appointment of Patrick Odhiambo as their new head coach in a bid to turn their torrid results around.

Odhiambo succeeds John Baraza, who was recently sacked following a series of poor results.

Homeboyz have also announced Ibrahim Shikanda and Jeffers Odongo as assistants to Odhiambo, while John Waw will remain as the goalkeepers' coach.

''We are bringing in a new set of coaches with a wealth of experience. Coach Patrick has been with us before and we believe they will turn things around alongside Ibrahim Shikanda and Jeffers Odongo,” Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Malala said during the unveiling.

Odhiambo had been an assistant coach of Kakamega Homeboyz, a position he resigned in 2021 to take over as a head coach at Tanzanian side Biashara Mara United.

He helped the Mara-based side qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time last season, where they exited from the preliminary phase on financial grounds.

Odhiambo filled the void that had been left at Biashara by former Kenya international Francis Baraza.

His last job was as coach of Tanzania Prisons, a position he left following a series of poor results back in January 2023.

Odhiambo has coached Western Stima, Agro Chemicals, Muhoroni Youth, Chemelil Sugar, and Sony Sugar.

He also served at record champions Gor Mahia as the assistant coach under Steven Polack, a position he left in 2020 to serve at Homeboyz in the same capacity.

Kakamega Homeboyz is placed eighth on the log with 21 points from 25 matches with only five wins.
