Kenyan Esports star Eric Nginge is gearing up for the upcoming International e-Ligue 1 Tour Esports finals, set for April 18 to 22 in Paris, France.

Fresh off his national championship victory at Zetech University, Ngige is ready to represent Kenya on a global stage with high expectations.

"My preparations so far have been fine, and I am ready to compete and carry the Kenyan flag high, aiming for victory," Ngige stated in an interview with Pulse Sports.

"I have gained much experience so far, and I expect an improved performance better than last year," he added confidently.

At just 23 years old, Ngige, who plays for Nairobi's top gaming side Masters of Mayhem, has quickly become a prominent figure in the Kenyan Esports scene.

Last month, he successfully defended his title by defeating his teammate Joash “Jojo” Agutu with a 2-0 scoreline in the e-Ligue1 national finals.

He utilized French Ligue2 side Quevilly Rouen in the PlayStation 5 soccer game, dominating the 2022 champion Luony Fox 6-1 in the semifinals.

Ngige's journey to Paris is marked by his continuous pursuit of excellence.

Last year, he showcased his skills on the international stage by securing the second position at the gamrX African Esports Championship in Lagos, Nigeria.

However, his participation in last year's e-Ligue 1 tournament in France saw him finish in seventh place, after a tense match against Romy from Ivory Coast, which was marred by a computer glitch in the closing minutes.

This glitch, which resulted in his goalkeeper missing a crucial save, allowed his opponent to score, costing Ngige a spot in the semifinals.

Despite this setback, Ngige remains undeterred and focused on leveraging his past experiences for a better outcome this year.

"Such experiences are tough, but they teach you resilience and improve your game strategy for future matches," Ngige reflected on the incident.

The prize breakdown for this year’s eLigue1 Tour Finals has been set, with the first-place winner receiving €3,500, a significant increase from last year’s prize.

Ngige is eyeing the top spot, motivated not only by the prestige of winning but also by the substantial prize money that would signify his skills and dedication paying off.

As Ngige prepares to leave Nairobi on Wednesday, he carries with him the hopes and expectations of his team, family, and fans.

With improved tactics Nginge is poised to make a significant impact at the International e-Ligue 1 tour Esports finals in Paris turning his previous setbacks into stepping stones for triumph.
