Coach Julius Odhiambo is also bubbling with confidence ahead of Wanyonyi’s encounter with Mandonga.

Highly rated Kenyan pugilist Daniel Wanyonyi is plotting big ahead of his re-match against ‘loudmouthed’ Tanzanian boxer Karim Mtu Kazi Mandonga slated for April 30, 2023.

In their previous encounter, Mandonga wiped out Wanyonyi at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in the highly anticipated match held in January.

Wanyonyi, however, did not take it lightly and has promised fireworks in their next bout.

“In the previous match, I lost because of a few mistakes but now I have learnt. There were also so many issues at the time but I am now comfortable. Our next match is going to be a thriller and I will surely impress,” Wanyonyi said.

In the event that saw Mandonga run away with the Pugilistic Syndicate of Tanzania (PST) light heavyweight title on March 25, Wanyonyi was also not left behind as he silenced Uganda’s Charles Kakande in the super middleweight bout.

Wanyonyi promised that come the end of next month, he will display even better results as he faces off against Mandonga.

Meanwhile, his coach Julius Odhiambo is also bubbling with confidence ahead of Wanyonyi’s encounter with Mandonga.

“He is ready to fight. We have invested our time into training and I am confident this time round we shall lift the trophy,” he said.

On his part, Mandonga is also bullish of thrashing Wanyonyi one more time. He said: “I am ready to fight Wanyonyi anywhere on this continent...he won't last three rounds and it is not a bet. I will beat him any time and any day.”
