Former World Boxing Council super-bantamweight champion Fatuma "Iron fist' Zarika has announced her come back into the sport after a two-year hiatus.
Speaking on KTN, she revealed that she had taken the break to watch over her family and make sure things are on course before coming back into the ring.
She added that balancing the sport and the family was a bit overwhelming and she had to focus on one aspect.
“I had given myself a two-year break to address some family issues. Things have settled and I am now back,” she said.

Zarika, who made history made history in 2016 after becoming the first Kenyan to win the prestigious World Boxing Commission (WBC) title, promised fireworks upon her return. She revealed that her first championship will be in April at Vision Plaza, where she trains.
“I have so many plans going forward because things have now settled and my full focus is on boxing. I am training well for my event,” she said.
Zarika also advised people who want to venture into boxing professionally or as amateurs to ensure that they seek enough support.
“Without support from relevant people, you will remain stagnant. As I make my comeback, I hope things will work out well for me. I also welcome anyone who wants to join the sport whether professionally or as an amateur,” she said.
