The Duke Blue Devils have taken to social media to thank Cooper Flagg for his time with them after the Maine native announced his decision to declare for the 2025 NBA draft.
Standing at 6ft 9in, the 18-year-old is one of the sport's rising stars. He averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, leading Duke to the Final Four and making history as the first player since 1986 to lead his team in all major statistical categories during a Final Four game, albeit falling short of the title.

Cooper Flagg declares for 2025 NBA draft
Given his immense talent, there have been speculations over his future, whether he would stay at Duke beyond his freshman year or make the leap to the NBA. The ACC Player of the Year has decided to take the big step.
Flagg announced his decision through a heartfelt post on Instagram, in which he thanked Duke fans for their support in his year as a Blue Devil.
“Duke fans, my teammates, the brotherhood, everybody that was along for this journey, it was an incredible year, probably the best year of my life and I have so much gratitude and I feel so blessed for all the opportunities I was given. Duke has always been a dream for me, but I’m excited to announce that I’ll be entering my name into the 2025 draft.”
Blue Devils reaction
In a social media post of their own, the Blue Devils confirmed Flagg’s leaving.They thanked him for his service and dubbed him a “Duke forever.”
Many of the reactions in the post's comments were also wholesome, as fans cheered him on to accomplish great things in the NBA.
The NBA Draft is scheduled to take place on June 25, 2025, at Barclays Centre. Flagg is projected to be the number 1 pick in the draft class, underscoring his immense talent.
