Coach Geoffrey Kimani has lauded Omanyala's younger brother, Isaac Omurwa, who has landed himself a rare opportunity just at the age of 19.

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala’s coach Geoffrey Kimani has applauded the sprinter's younger brother Isaac Omurwa after his latest achievement just at the age of 19.

The youngster has received his first call-up to the national team as a senior athlete and Omanyala’s coach, who also coaches Omurwa, could not keep his cool.

He shared the congratulatory message with Omurwa on his X (Twitter) handle, saying: “Outstanding! ...you earned it, have fun, and enjoy the maiden senior call-up!”

Omurwa has received a call-up to join the national team camp for the 4x100m relay team by the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, something he does not take for granted.

He shared the great news on his social media, explaining how his brother Omanyala and the coach have been vital cogs in his success.

"Wearing my national colors again but in another stage. SENIOR STAGE. To me, that is a step and a great improvement. Much appreciation to my coach @GeoffKimani and bro @Ferdiomanyala,” he shared.

Omurwa also opened up on how his elder brother, the reigning Commonwealth Games 100m champion, has inspired him to go for everything he wants.

He has represented Team Kenya twice, at the junior level, competing at the East Africa Under-20 Athletics Championships and the African Under-20 Championships.

In the East African showpiece, he won the 100m but faltered in the continental showpiece, finishing sixth in the 100m final and did not proceed to the final of the 200m.

“My brother has inspired me to do more and wearing these National colours means the world to me,” he added.
