Wilson became one of the youngest ever athletes to win sponsorship terms with an apparel, spikes and shoe manufacturer at just 15.

Fast-rising American sprint sophomore QuIncy Wilson has praised his spike and training gear sponsor New Balance for giving him the platform to launch his budding career in ideal conditions.

Wilson made history as one of the youngest high school athletes to sign an NIL deal with a major sportswear company.

As a freshman at the Bullis School (MD), he ran 45.87 for 400m at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field U20 Championships. He was the New Balance Nationals Indoor 400m champion.

Recently, he recorded a new New Balance Indoor track meet time, clocking 45.76s to defend his 400m, surpassing the record set by  Elzie Coleman in 2004.

Now, Wilson has expressed his gratefulness for the brand which has also given him the opportunity to do things like do shoe giveaways, as he donated some gear to his Wayman Good Hope AME Church last Christmas.

“New Balance is great, they give you a lot of opportunities you (ordinarily) don’t get to explore as a high school (student) and even as an African American male, you never really get the chance to do it,” Wilson told Fitz Dunk.

“I am just glad to be one of the African representatives. Being the youngest person in track and field to have a shoe deal, so to have the whole world is just amazing.”

New Balance has made a commitment to investing into talents with huge potential across various sporting disciplines.

Sadie Engelhardt, Tinoda Matsatsa, Daniel Simmons and Ali Ince were the other track and field youngsters that were  announced as its name, image and likeness signings last September.

Wilson is one of the most popular athletes in America right now and he has sent a message to his fans, encouraging them to take a selfie with him any time they would like!

“Just keep up the hard work. I have been working extremely hard, just going out there every day but also, I don’t want people to be scared. Come out and ask for a picture.

“I will always take a picture with you all.”
