Despite a rough start to his 2025 season, Christian Coleman believes he is still the man to beat in the 100m.

Christian Coleman has shared a message of hope to his fans following his performance in his first races of the season.

The American sprint king started his season with the 100m race at the Tom Jones Memorial, where he finished third.

Christian Coleman proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, where he finished fourth in the race, clocking 10.18 seconds to cross the finish line.

The race was won by Akani Simbine, who dipped under 10 seconds, with Ferdinand Omanyala and Jeremiah Azu finishing second and third, respectively.

The 2019 world 100m champion endured another bitter defeat at the Diamond League Meeting in Shanghai, finishing distant fifth in the men’s 100m.

Akani Simbine ruled once again, with Kishane Thompson and Letsile Tebogo now taking second and third-place finishes.

However, despite struggling to make an impact in his first races of the season, Christian Coleman remains confident.

Coleman revealed that he is in great shape and he just needs to address a few things before unleashing his full potential in the upcoming races.

“I don’t know, I’m not worried; it’s all there. I mean, it’s too early, but I feel like I should be a little bit ahead of schedule where I am right now, but I don’t know, I feel good about it if I keep staying at it. I know, finally, my breakthrough will come,” Coleman shared in a post-race interview.

The 60m world record holder pointed out that he wants to continue putting in the work and display the splendid times he has been dropping in training.

Christian Coleman added that changing coaches is not an excuse to his performance, as he noted that he has been doing great and things are looking up.

“I just have to keep building and get better, I mean. Obviously, I’m in a new program, but I don’t know, that’s no excuse, the times that I’m putting down in practice and the shape that I know I’m in, I have to keep doing that,” Christian Coleman revealed.

“I feel like that’s just my battle to get over and go out there and prove what I can do on the track. I guess just when I get on top of my runs, just being able to maintain what I know I’m capable of doing.”

The 29-year-old will be heading to the Seiko Grand Prix in Tokyo on May 18, 2025, as part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series.

He will then go back to training before competing at the Prefontaine Classic, noting that he still has a chance to prove himself.

“We have Tokyo in two weeks, do a big block of training from there and then Prefontaine. I’ve got some big opportunities coming up in the future, and I’m going to keep chopping at it. I think I’ll be a lot better,” he revealed.

While Christian Coleman’s start to the 2025 season has been far from dominant, his unwavering confidence and upcoming race schedule suggest he is far from finished. He is determined to remind the world exactly who he is.
