While Mary Moraa has yet to open her 2025 season, Lilian Odira has been making waves in cross country, posting impressive results that she hopes will help her dominate this season.
Odira revealed that last season, she competed in a few cross-country races which helped her build endurance for the long season. The Africa 800m silver medallist made it to the Olympic team, the highlight of her career at the time.

South African legend Benni McCarthy has reportedly decided on the men who will join his technical bench when he takes over as Harambee Stars coach.
“Last year I did some cross-country build-ups and I decided to do it this year because last year it made me make it to the Olympics and I thought it was great to do that this year,” she said.
Reacting to the race, Lilian Odira admitted that it was tough but expressed her admiration for racing against tough athletes.
She now shifts focus to the track races, with one of her main targets being to compete at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, before focusing outdoors.

“It has been a good race, though a competitive one and I love racing with competitive athletes and I’m grateful for my performance and thankful to God,” Lilian Odira said.
“I think I’m still waiting to see if I’ll make it to the world indoors team, go focus on the event because it is part of my build-up towards the 2025 season.
“I’m still working on my strength and endurance but after that, we shall see what to work on for my busy season. So far, I can’t tell the race that I will be running because we are targeting the world indoors.”
After the indoor chapter is closed, Lilian Odira will now focus on the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, the main event of the season.
There, she hopes to make a name for herself, competing against top stars like Mary Moraa, Keely Hodgkinson and Athing Mu.
