US marathon world record holder Emily Sisson has hit out at Kenya’s Ruth Chepng’etich following her shocking suspension due to an anti-doping rule violation.
Kenyan athletics is rocked with yet another major doping scandal after world marathon record holder Ruth Chepng’etich was handed a provisional suspension for an anti-doping rule violation.
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced Chepng’etich’s suspension on Thursday after banned substance diuretic hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) was detected in a sample collected from her on 14 March, 2025.
Used commonly as a masking agent, HCTZ has a minimum reporting level of 20 nanograms per millilitre (ng/mL) in urine but Chepng’etich's sample showed 3,800 ng/mL, 190 times above the normal range.
