Learning From the GOAT: Usain Bolt and Ex-Coach Glen Mills Sharpen Zambia’s 4x400m Team Ahead of World Relays Championships

Zambia’s 4x400m team is brimming with confidence ahead of the World Relay Championships after getting tips from Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt and his former coach Glen Mills.

Zambia’s team to the World Relays Championships got a major boost in their preparations recently when they had the opportunity to learn from the greatest sprinter of all time.

Team Zambia, which included Olympics 400m bronze medalist, Muzala Samukonga, has been tuning up for the event in Jamaica as they look to take the world by storm in the 4x400m relays at the global event set to take place in Guangzhou, China from May 10-11.

The training, supported by Presidential Athlete Support Initiative, a government-backed programme aimed at propelling Zambian sports to world-class standards, saw the team camp in Jamaica and their preparations were boosted when Usain Bolt visited them and offered words of counsel.

Bolt, the world record holder in both 100m and 200m, is considered the greatest sprinter of all-time after winning eight Olympics gold and 11 world titles, and the Zambian team got to learn from him different aspects about sprinting that will be crucial in their preparations for the World Relays.

It was not just Bolt but his former coach, veteran Glen Mills was also there to offer some tactical knowledge to the team and its technical officials which they hope will be vital on their participation at the World Relays.

Jamaica, known to produce some of the greatest sprinters in the world, is a favourite training venue for many sprinters looking to succeed at various championships and Team Zambia hope their trip will yield handsome dividends in Guangzhou.
