Kishane Thompson has confidently declared himself the sprinter to watch this season as he gears up for his next competition.

Kishane Thompson has sent a strong message to Noah Lyles, Akani Simbine, Kenny Bednarek, Ferdinand Omanyala and other top sprinters as the outdoor season gathers pace.

Kishane Thompson has only competed in two individual races outdoors, and he will be lining up for his third at the Racers Grand Prix on Saturday, June 7.

The Jamaican sprint king started his season indoors, rounding up his tour at the Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes, where he won the race.

He then proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Keqiao, where he finished second behind Akani Simbine before heading to the World Athletics Relays, where he was denied an opportunity to run due to botched baton exchanges in the heats and repechage round of the men’s 4x100m relay.

Kishane Thompson bounced back to competition at the JAAA WA Championships Preparation #1, competing in the heats of the 100m, where he won the race.

The Olympic 100m silver medallist is confident that as long as he is healthy, he will be the one to watch throughout the season.

Kishane Thompson pointed out that he has already bounced back from the World Athletics Relays setback, noting that sometimes plans are made, but they never mature.

“I mean, as long as I’m alive, I’m the one to watch. I can’t say that every time I step on the track, it’s going to be a fast time, but conditions apply,” Thompson added.

“For me, it’s life, you’re never going to say you’re ready, and everything is not going to be aligned, but you have to give your all in everything you do.”

Kishane Thompson is also bubbling with confidence ahead of the Racers Grand Prix, noting that it will be an exciting opportunity to show fans what he is made of.

It will be his first time competing at the event, and he claimed that he has been following the event for years, and it is a dream come true for him to be competing there.

“I’m really excited to compete in Jamaica because I have never had many opportunities to compete in local meets, and the Racers Grand Prix has been one of my favourite meets, and I’m really looking forward to it. I just want to see the vibes, the energy and just have high competition and enjoy myself,” Kishane Thompson revealed.

Kishane Thompson’s main focus will be on the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, in September, and he will be using the competitions as a build-up for the same.
