After a private breakup, Julien Alfred is focusing on healing, self-care, and finding balance as she prepares for the World Championships.

When Julien Alfred broke into the limelight after her Paris Olympic Games dominant exploits, she was in a relationship that she chose to keep a secret.

The reigning Olympic 100m champion has since revealed that she is single and is trying to find herself and a hobby as she gears up for the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

The Olympic 200m silver medallist revealed that she lives alone, and since breaking up with her partner, she opted to focus on making herself a better athlete, physically and mentally.

Julien Alfred pointed out that her coach, Edrick Floreal, told her that she cannot focus on track and field 24/7, explaining that she used to leave practice and continue thinking about it at home, regardless of whether it had been a good or bad session.

However, Julien Alfred admitted that she still struggles to find balance, noting that while she is learning to get out of the house more, she often ends up staying in, not wanting to go anywhere alone.

“You know, life has changed a lot, and I want to ensure that I have, you know, the people around me that are not going to lead me off track or allow me to feel like I'm more than the next person,” Julien Alfred said in an interview with Rare Ones.

“Another thing is just taking care of my body and ensuring that I get treatment as much as possible, and finding that balance. I was just so caught up in being in the house all the time. I live alone. I was dating, but not anymore.”

Right now, Julien Alfred is focused on track and field, but added that she is working on finding balance and reconnecting with herself, doing things that bring her joy, like investing in her skincare, getting facials, and prioritising self-care.

She explained that it is about giving back to herself just as much as she gives to the sport, and she's learning to manage both at the same time.

“I have a goal of going back to school. I've been thinking about it, especially in high school, where I did like technical drawing and building. So I really want to go back to school to study architecture,” Julien Alfred added.

“So that's what I've been thinking about. But right now, I'm just still trying to find a hobby in itself. You know, I'll just do things here and there like randomly, like maybe go out to eat with my friends, but I don't have anything in particular where I say I want to do this today, or I'm just so excited to look forward to something.”

Julien Alfred is in a season of self-discovery, balancing the demands of elite competition with the quieter, more personal journey of healing, and finding joy beyond the track.

As she prepares for the World Championships, her focus remains sharp, but so does her commitment to self-care, on and off the track.
