American sprint sensation Quincy Wilson has opened up on how tough it was re-adjusting to high school life after his Olympic success in Paris last August.
Wilson, 17, set the under-18 400m world record for both indoor and outdoor during the Maryland's Bulls School last year. At age 16, he qualified for the men's 4x400m relay pool for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, becoming the youngest American track & field male Olympian in history.
Although Quincy Wilson only competed in the heats, he by extension also earned gold, becoming the youngest track and field Olympic gold medalist in history.

During an interview with the Beyond The Records Podcast co-hosted by Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles and his compatriot Rai Benjamin, Wilson was asked his thoughts about how he eased back into school life.

Without mincing his words, Wilson who boasts a PB of 22.15 seconds in 200m, said: "It was a change from me doug. I was just like I have been out all summer, I didn't know I was supposed to be doing my reading while I was in the village man. I did do nothing."

Wilson said he had no excuses why he couldn't focus on the books since he had plenty on his plate to accomplish. "I went home and did the reading for like 2 days and my mum says but you think you're getting out the jokes. There was TikTok and things were real and my mum was like you're reading this book. I had a 600 page book and then a 200-page book that I had to read."
Wilson said he did the school work himself adding, "I didn't touch the Chat GPT."
Quincy Wilson placed first and set a meet record in the process at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor championships in June last year, running 45.13 seconds in the boy's 400m.
On December 28, Wilson set a personal best of 1:17.9 in the short track 600m, setting a new meet record in the event at the US Marine Corps Holiday Classic at The Armoury.
