Australian teen sprint sensation Gout Gout extended his unbeaten European streak with a 20.10s win in Monaco but explained he is holding off racing stars like Noah Lyles and Co.

The incredible rise of Australian sprinting prodigy Gout Gout continued on Friday night at the Monaco Diamond League, where the he clinched yet another impressive victory, this time in the invitational U-23 200 metres event.

Clocking 20.10 seconds into a stiff 1.9 m/s headwind, Gout delivered a commanding performance at the Stade Louis II, reinforcing his status as one of the sport's brightest young stars.

The win keeps his unbeaten European streak alive, following his record-breaking 20.02s run in Ostrava earlier this month, a mark that already stands as the Australian national record.

Trailing well behind Gout were Botswana’s Busang Collen Kebinatshipi (20.28s) and South Africa’s Naeem Jack (20.42s), underlining just how dominant the Queensland schoolboy was despite less-than-ideal conditions.

Why He Is Not Facing Noah Lyles And Co Yet

Noah Lyles vs Letsile Tebogo
Noah Lyles defeated Letsile Tebogo at the Monaco Diamond League.

While the main Diamond League 200m race featured a spectacular 19.88s win by Olympic champion Noah Lyles over Letsile Tebogo, Gout chose not to line up against the American and Co just yet.

“I didn’t compete in the main race because I just want slowly to get used to it," Gout explained after his race as quoted by The Guardian.

"There is no point putting me in big races when I am running at the world championships. The goal now is to go out there and have a little bit of fun.”

The young Australian is wisely prioritizing experience and development over premature showdowns with the sport's elite.

His careful progression hints at a longer-term strategy, one that avoids burnout and maximizes his potential leading into senior competition and global championships.
